North Hill Farm Stables
Occupying the corner of the farmstead is the former mono-pitched stone stable building. Over time, the original structure had been adapted and extended, concealing its previous form and purpose.
Our proposal works with the existing interlocking forms of the stables to create a self-contained space for independent living, separate from the farmhouse. A simple open-plan living area and a modest bedroom are planned over a single level. As the property is set within the Avon Green Belt, careful planning negotiations have been instrumental in shaping the design response.
The approach to materials, construction, and space builds upon the architectural language developed in the initial phase. Views are framed thoughtfully within each individual space, connecting inhabitants to the surrounding landscape.
