Beckenham Place Park

Tucked away on the southern edge of Beckenham Place Park is a collection of Arts and Crafts-inspired late 20th-century properties. Set against the backdrop of mature parkland trees, each property sits independently within its generous garden.

Our approach was to create volume, interest, and connections where there were few before. The entrance space and stairwell were reconfigured to form a grand hallway. This central space is open to a feature rooflight, allowing natural light to penetrate the darkest part of the plan.

Spaces and materials were carefully developed to sit comfortably alongside the existing building. Two bronze-wrapped pavilions extend into the garden, forming a loggia-like space that converges on a central planted courtyard. The courtyard is conceived as an external ‘room,’ onto which the key entertainment spaces open.
