Novers Hill Housing

Occupying a stretch of former industrial land along the Western Slopes escarpment, Novers Hill marks a threshold between urban life and fragile ecology. A 2023 competition led by Goram Homes and Bristol City Council invited proposals to address the urgent demand for housing while protecting the site’s biodiversity.

Working with Sinclair Studios and Jonathan Cook Landscape Architects, we proposed a scheme that balances these needs by placing shared outdoor space at its core. The design supports both community interaction and ecological resilience.

Titled The Spaces Between, the project introduces a network of green corridors and communal gardens, threaded through a mix of affordable homes. Each dwelling is positioned to maximise light, views, and access to nature—redefining the urban edge as a space of shared living.
